Shane Warne’s son Jackson shares inspirational tribute one year on from shock death
Shane Warne’s son has shared a powerful tribute to his father on this anniversary of his shocking death. The cricketing legend died of a sudden heart attack while travelling in Thailand on March 4, 2022. He was just 52 years of age.
Warne’s son Jackson Warne shared a video montage to his almost 95,000 Instagram followers on Saturday with the caption: “1 year ago today. Miss you mate, love Jacko”. The 23-year-old has been vocal on social media about how he has learned to cope with grief since losing his father so unexpectedly young.
“This year I could’ve easily gone down hill,” he wrote in a post last October. “But I didn’t. I didn’t because I used this trauma as energy for life.
” The video he shared on the anniversary of his father’s death appears to hone in on this same sentiment. Rather than sharing a series of nostalgic photos, the younger Warne stitched together clips from various films with quotes relating to life and death. “What am I doing with my life?,” an animated character from the 2020 Disney film Soul says in the first clip.
“I’m alive, I’m alive, free yourself. ” The next clip is taken from the film Little Miss Sunshine and shows a heart to heart between where two characters. “He looks back on his life and he realises that all those years he suffered those were the best years of his life because they made him who he was,” the character played by Steve Carell says.
The montage also features clips from the 2006 classic Rocky Balboa and the cartoon TV show Bojack Horseman. The video ends with a clip of his father during a TV appearance on Good Morning Britain from October 2018 in which host Piers Morgan asks Warne what he would write on his tombstone. “Here lies Shane Warne he …,” Morgan says leaving a blank for Warne to fill.
The late legend then makes an inaudible joke and bursts into his unmissable laugh before cracking a smile and saying, “Loved by Brooke, Jackson and Summer”. The children’s mother and Shane’s ex-wife Simone Callahan left a comment beneath the touching tribute saying his father would be proud. “Dad would be so proud of you, he loved you more than you could ever imagine,” she wrote.
“He always wanted to be the Best Dad, Always in your Heart. ” Jackson’s older sister Brooke also shared an Instagram tribute to her dad, with a home video and post that detailed how much she misses him. “I love you dad.
I will always remember us this way, laughing and happy,” she wrote. “One year today, feels like yesterday you were taken but forever since I’ve seen you. I miss your big hugs so much and you telling me everything is okay, life will never be the same without you dad, I miss you.
” The three Warne children attended Ed Sheeran’s concert on Friday night and were serenaded with a song tribute to their late father. The British singer-songwriter dedicated his debut hit The A Team to “Shane and his kids”. “Being in the MCG tonight and not having my friend Shane Warne here to watch this … I know this venue was really, really special to him,” Sheeran said.
