July is knocking at the door. By this weekend, we’ll be in the seventh month of 2022 with less than half a year left to go. Before you know it, we’ll be putting up Christmas lights and counting down to the new year—and what will 2023 have in store for us? 2022’s been full of surprises.
In fact, it seems like every year for about the last six has been stuffed to the gills with surprises. Surprise presidents. Surprise pandemics.
Surprise love and surprise heartbreak. Sometimes I find myself wishing the world could be just a tiny bit more boring and predictable. But as they say, change is the only constant.
We must weather the storms. In any case, today’s Wordle is a doozy. Let’s take a look.
How To Play Wordle To get started at Wordle, just remember you don’t need to download an app from the App Store or Google Play. Wordle is a browser-based game and can only be played by visiting its official homepage at the New York Times website (where it’s free and not stuck behind a paywall). There are imitators and other games calling themselves Wordle but they are copycats and frauds.
There are also a bunch of fun spinoffs on the popular puzzle game, some of which I’ve written about previously . You get six guesses to get to the correct answer.
Each guess must be a five-letter word. If you guess a correct letter it will show up in a green box if it’s in the correct spot and a yellow box if it’s the right letter in the wrong spot. If it’s wrong, it will show up in a grey box.
Using this information you can inform further guesses, eliminating letters and narrowing down your options. A healthy vocabulary certainly doesn’t hurt. I’ve written a tips & tricks guide to help you with this and other puzzle games.
Today’s Wordle #375 Hint & Answer Before we proceed, a warning: There are spoilers ahead. Now that you’ve been warned, a hint: You might use this word to describe an awkward adolescent. And the answer is .
. . .
Today's Wordle answer Credit: Erik Kain As you can see, this was a bit of a tricky word for me. My first guess— brail— did very little for me other than to get me an ‘A’ in yellow. From here, I just sort of stumbled on the very random word gaols which is probably thanks to the evergaols in Elden Ring.
It ended up being a strikingly lucky guess, getting me both the ‘G’ and ‘A’ in green. The only problem? There are quite a few words that start with ‘GA’ as it so happens. At this point, I had four guesses left and 8 possible solutions.
I had eliminated ‘I’ and ‘O’ so I decided I’d see if the word had a ‘U’ and went with gauch for guess number three. (Note: I didn’t even know if this would be an acceptable guess but weirdly it was). This got me down to three possible solutions and earned me an ‘impressive vocabulary!’ from WordleBot later.
I guessed one of those solutions next with gaffe which eliminated the ‘E’ leaving me with quite a conundrum. At this point, I later learned I had just two options left. I guessed gawky for the win.
Gamma was the only remaining possible solution other than the correct answer. Gawky is an odd word. You gawk at something when you stare at it plainly and openly, but gawky means ‘nervously awkward and ungainly.
’ Don’t gawk at the gawky teenagers, darling. It’s very rude. Happy Wednesday, dearest Wordlers! Live long and prosper! Follow me on Twitter .
