One of the biggest games in modern history is just around the corner. The first major Harry Potter / Potterverse video game, Hogwarts Legacy, lands on February 10th on PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The game lands 16 years after the final book in the Harry Potter series, and 12 years after the final film.
It’s more than a little shocking that we haven’t gotten a AAA release like this sooner. Still, better late than never! Hogwarts Legacy continues to look better and better with every new preview and trailer, a deep adventure filled with magic and monsters set in the famous school for witches and wizards 100 years before the adventures of Harry, Hermione and Ron. If you’re playing on a console you don’t need to worry about minimum or recommended specs, but if you’re playing the open-world game on PC you should definitely make sure that your machine—whether desktop or laptop—is up to par before diving in.
Here are the minimum and recommended PC specs for Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy system requirements Credit: Steam As you can see, you’ll need at least Windows 10 (or 11) to run the game as well as DirectX 12. The minimum requirements are: An Intel Core -i5-6600 (3. 3Ghz) or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (3.
2Ghz) CPU (processor) 16GB of RAM (memory) An Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB or AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB GPU (graphics card) 85 GB of storage SSD (Solid-State Drive) preferred, though regular hard drives are supported MORE FOR YOU The Inside Story Of Papa John's Toxic Culture Is There A Chief Trust Officer In Your Company’s Future? How Businesses Can Use AI To Improve Their Content Strategy In 2023 These specs apparently will get you a 720p / 30 fps (frames-per-second) experience on Low, which means this is a fairly demanding game. 720p/3ofps is . .
. not great. In order to boost this performances to 1080p / 60fps on High Quality you’ll want: Intel Core i7-8700 (3.
2Ghz) or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3. 6Ghz) CPU 16 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 1080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770 The same storage requirements apply (and I do recommend the SSD if you can swing it). If you’re looking to get 2k or 4k at High or better settings, I would recommend bumping your CPU up to something like the Intel i7-9700k CPU or the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU (which is what I have in my rig—it’s great).
Pair that with an NVidia GeForce RTX 3070 or the cheaper (but still excellent) AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and you should be off to the (broomstick) races. Hogwarts Legacy is out in Early Access soon as well. Read all about the Early Access start-times for pre-orders right here.
