Vevo Vevo has partnered with TelevisaUnivision to launch two Latino-themed 24/7 live streaming music video channels on ViX, targeting the new free, ad-supported platform's audience. The partnership kicks off with "Vevo Latino,” which features artists such as Romeo Santos and Shakira and “Vevo Reggaeton & Trap” that highlights the music of performers like Karol G and J Balvin.
Vevo is also developing two additional FAST channels for ViX. “Vevo Regional Mexican” will promote music by groups including Calibre 50 and Los Ángeles Azules and “Vevo Íconos Latinos” will spotlight artists such as Celia Cruz and Selena. Those two channels are expected to launch in the fall.
All Vevo music channels will be accessible on ViX’s ad-supported tier. "As the world’s leading music video network, we are constantly innovating our programming and expanding our distribution network to meet consumers in the environments they frequent. In short, we deliver music videos to fans wherever, whenever, and however they want them.
With Latin being Vevo’s second most viewed genre globally, we hope this partnership with ViX - the largest Spanish-language streamer - will bring Latin music videos to even more Hispanic American households," says JP Evangelista, Senior Vice President, Content, Programming & Marketing, Vevo. According to Vevo, the Latin genre was the music network's second most-viewed genre of 2021 globally, with Colombian singer Karol G named Vevo’s top artist of the year . As consumer demand for Latin music videos continues to grow, executives for both companies say the partnership made sense.
“This is another example of our commitment to delivering top-quality content to millions of Spanish-speakers who want to see their culture, language, interests, and experiences truly represented and reflected on screen,” states Bilai Silar, TelevisaUnivision's svp of OTT content. Vevo's partnership with Vix is not exclusive. Its Vevo Latino and Vevo Reggaeton & Trap channels are also accessible on-demand on other free ad-supported TV services, including Samsung TV Plus, Pluto TV, Local Now and The Roku Channel, as well as via the Vevo TV app.
